Migration Introduction

AEMP 2.0 API is being migrated from its current backend solution to a new Volvo CE backend solution.  The migration will require customers and/or their integrators to perform updates within their integration.  Any customers onboarded onto AEMP 2.0 API prior to July 15, 2024, and have not yet been migrated will receive instructions to migrate by March 31, 2025.  These customers will have until May 30, 2025, to complete the migration.  All orders for new AEMP 2.0 API credentials submitted after July 15, 2024, will be completed on the new backend, and not be required to perform a migration.

What is changing?
  • A new Identity Provider (IDP) URL
  • New URLs for all the API Endpoints
  • OAuth 2.0 Grant Type changes to Client Credentials grant type
    • Update in the Authentication & Authorization procedures, which would be reflected in the Developer’s Portal
  • New API Specifications / Swagger file which would be updated on the Developer’s Portal
  • Migration of the new API Product and the new App Subscription
  • Change in the Client ID (App Key)
What is remaining the same?
  • Telematics data and frequency of the machine update
  • Request-Reply parameters for each of the API Endpoints
  • Rate Limits on the API as per the existing subscription
  • Payload response as XML with existing pagination of 100 records per page
  • Discoverability endpoints for Snapshot and Time-Series
  • Provisioning of the fleet
  • Ordering and invoicing processes for AEMP 2.0 API
The expected benefits of this migration include:
  • Addition of new data fields into AEMP 2.0 API including PIN17 and End Customer Equipment ID
  • Increase in time series endpoint range to 31 days
  • Quicker and more accurate onboarding and support
  • Streamlined subscription management and invoicing through Volvo Services Marketplace
  • Clear visibility to active subscriptions

Key Details of Migration

  • Customers that are active users of AEMP 2.0 API will be prioritized for the migration. If a customer is not actively using their AEMP 2.0 API feed prior to the end of the migration period, their subscription will be canceled.
  • All customers will have until May 30, 2025, to complete the migration. If a customer fails to migrate by this date, they will lose access to their API feed until they complete the migration.
  • When a customer is selected to begin the migration, an individualized email will be sent to the customer from Volvo CE detailing:
    • Introduction to migration
    • New technical credentials for AEMP 2.0 API
    • Instructions for completing the migration
    • Expectations for completing the migration
    • Opportunities for acquiring support
    • In the case that a customer has NOT received their migration communication by March 31, 2025, please contact support.vcif@volvo.com for more information.

Expectations for Existing Customers

By March 31, 2025, customers should expect to have received an email from Volvo CE regarding the beginning of their migration. Within the email, the following will be provided:

  • Introduction to migration
  • New technical credentials for AEMP 2.0 API
  • Instructions for completing the migration
  • Expectations for completing the migration
  • Opportunities for acquiring support

The Volvo CE Commercial Integration Framework (VCIF) team will be available to provide support during the migration process.

A customer’s old technical credentials will remain active during their migration period but will be turned off on May 30, 2025. The new credentials shared will remain active even after their window expires regardless of whether they have completed the migration or not.
